This classic meatloaf recipe delivers tender slices, rich savory flavor, and a sweet, tangy glaze on top. Made with everyday ingredients and ready in about an hour, it’s comfort food at its best.


Ingredients

Meatloaf

  • 1½ lbs ground beef (80/20 recommended)

  • 1 cup milk

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs or crushed crackers

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • ⅓ cup ketchup

  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

Glaze

  • ½ cup ketchup

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a loaf pan or line a baking sheet.

  2. In a large bowl, combine milk and breadcrumbs. Let soak for 1 minute.

  3. Add eggs, onion, garlic, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix gently.

  4. Add ground beef and mix just until combined (do not overmix).

  5. Shape into a loaf or place in prepared pan.

  6. Mix glaze ingredients and spread half over the top.

  7. Bake 45 minutes, remove from oven, spread remaining glaze on top.

  8. Return to oven and bake 15–20 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

  9. Let rest 10 minutes, then slice and serve.


Tips for the Best Meatloaf

  • Use 80/20 ground beef for moisture and flavor

  • Don’t overmix—this keeps meatloaf tender

  • Let it rest before slicing to keep juices inside

  • For less grease, bake on a rack set over a pan
